Retired to stud in 1996, Monsun is used as an outcross stallion – being free of Northern Dancer, Raise A Native, and Nasrullah blood. He was rated 124 by Timeform in his three-year-old season. He was sixth to Apple Tree in the 1994 Coronation Cup (Epsom) when raced in England at Group 1 level. Monsun also finished runner-up at Longchamp in the Group 2 Prix du Conseil de Paris. He won the Group1 Europa Preis (Cologne) twice and the Group 1 Aral Pokal (Gelsenkirchen) at 12 furlongs.
